Bird of Paradise – One Dozen

Bird of paradise flowers are one of the most popular of all Hawaiian flowers.  They like rain followed by a lot of sun to bloom.  This is a tall flower that bursts open to resemble a bird.  The bird of paradise will highlight any Hawaiian flower arrangement or can be displayed in a bunch on their own.

Birds can be weather sensitive. If you need to order please do so a week or more in advance.

This is a somewhat large flower and the stem can be heavy compared to other Hawaiian flowers like anthurium. Take care unpacking them and the inside part of the flower can break without careful handling.

To care for your bird of paradise trim about an inch off the bottom of the stem. You can hold the entire flower and stem under clean, lukewarm water for 10 minutes or so. This will refresh the flower and extend the life.

If birds are not available we will substitute 16 tropic fleur heliconia (shown below) which are less common on the mainland yet equally beautiful. If you must have birds please contact us in advance of your delivery date.
